In June 2008 Margot Seigle lived in the indigenous community of Cofan Dureno as a volunteer.  While there, she talked with different community members and many expressed a desire to sell their jewelry outside of Ecuador; artesania is the main source of income for the entire community. Margot is supporting now the Cofans to sell some of their craft in the US, she says:

“By working together to expand the market to the US, we can support alternative environmentally friendly development and show solidarity in the struggle to protect the Amazon”

En Junio de 2008 Margot Seigle vivió en las comunidad indígena Cofán de Dureno como voluntaria. Durante su estancia habló con miembros de la comunidad que expresaron su deseo de vender su joyería tradicional fuera de Ecuador; la artesanía es la principal fuente de ingreso de la comunidad.
